Some of you may be wondering what happened to the Bardolatry in my list of Bs since I have not been cross posting from Newlywed Shakespeare recently. Well, there’s a good explanation. I started my Newlywed Shakespeare blog as a way to keep me sharp and engaged with Shakespeare’s texts after graduate school. It worked.
I ended up taking a long break while I was pregnant not only because I was feeling perpetually exhausted, but also because I was working as the educational director for a local Shakespeare company and was getting an early modern mental work out from directing an educational touring show and putting together study guides. I started again when I started actively blogging here again and haven’t for a while because… well… I’m getting my workout elsewhere again. I’m in the midst of trying to write the third installment of Pandanda Players’ Alphabet Shakespeare series (C is for Clown), I am working on memorizing three roles (Olivia, Maria, Antonia/o) for Class 6 Theatre’s production of 12th Night, and it looks like we are going to need to brainstorm what the fourth installment of our Alphabet Shakespeare series will be called very soon!
My awesomely talented husband is not only understudying for 12th night as well, but he will be working with me on both the Pandanda Players material and our next co-directing venture. We will be directing The Tempest at Brelby Theatre Company this fall! So… I’d say the bardolatry in my year just got kicked into hyper drive. I’m so thrilled to talk more about these productions so let me know if you have any questions and I’m sure there will be more updates to come and these ventures!
