Powersheets helped me through this hard year and helped move me closer to my dreams. I already wrote a post on some of the goals and dreams they helped me accomplish this year and if you missed that, you can read about it HERE. When I started using PowerSheets at the beginning of this year I knew that they would be useful, I just didn’t expect how much they would shift my perspective and how I want to tackle goals. I really didn’t expect them to open my writing up to so many new
readers and I am so grateful for anyone who takes the time to read a little about my monthly progress!
I have only just begun some Powersheets prep for 2018, but I wanted to share a few things I learned from the pages I’ve done so far (I’m writing this early to have the month of December off of blogging… so hopefully by the time you read this my prep work will be done and I’ll be well on my way to solidifying what goals I want to work on next year!) I can confidently say that without my intentional forethought this year would have contained many more days filled with guilt, comparison, and wasted time. When I looked back at the prep work I did for my 2017 PowerSheets, one of the ideas that kept coming up again and again was this fear of burn out. I tend to run myself ragged- until my body and brain shut down and then do it all again the second I can get out of bed. I knew I couldn’t keep going that way with two kids and I was so so scared about the things I would have to give up to keep that from happening. I dreamed about things I didn’t think I could achieve but that I have managed to accomplish this year. I tried and loved other things I didn’t even think of dreaming about during my prep work. I hope that happens again next year.
For 2018, I know that I’m in a different mental space and am about to adjust many of my goals as my baby becomes a toddler and my preschooler creeps closer and closer to some sort of pre-K schedule (not sure quite what that will look like yet!) I know that many of the things I have learned to value this year will remain and that many of the methods I’ve begun to work with and cultivate this year will stay the same, even as my specific goals or subsequent steps towards those goals change.
More than anything, I am starting to realize that in a world that seems to be leaning more and more towards the angry, cynical, and superficial, one of the most radical things you can do is keep dreaming and then getting out of our heads and outside the world of screens and take action (OK, some of those actions might involve using screens too but… you know what I’m saying. Less passive work, more active work!) I hope you’ve seen some progress towards your goals and dreams this year and I am always thrilled whenever I get to share in cheering you on. Expect more goals and progress in the new year, but things will just be framed a little differently…
