I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this is the BUSIEST week of our year (though check in with me again when we hit Tempest tech in 2 weeks…) and so I’m feeling a lot like this:
But baking is a good stand by to stress less right? Also I’m really proud of the work everyone is doing in rehearsals and while we’re on the favorite TV show gif train:
So yes… that’s where I am right now. But dang it if I didn’t make some kick ass dinner rolls today. I can’t really take that much credit for it. I took the recipe from this website and they basically bake themselves into deliciousness because BUTTER. SO. MUCH. BUTTER. This recipe calls for the bread to rise twice. Once right after you mix everything together and once afar you’ve shaped it into crescent rolls. So plan to make it when you will be home most of the day. Once the dough rises the first time, you divide the dough in half and roll it out into a circle, then cut each circle like a pizza into 12 slices- I started with a knife and ended up moving to a pizza slicer because that was much easier, especially with a curious toddler trying to see what I was doing…
You will notice in the second picture that between the rolling and the slicing, you are supposed to apply a generous portion of butter and slather it all over your dough. Then you roll each buttery slice up from the outside in and let them rise in this new shape then bake them into buttery deliciousness. The recipe called to add even more butter after they were done baking but we thought it was enough as it was. I want to try this recipe again with some flavored compound butter next time! Maybe honey or pumpkin.
Aside from the one I started to pull apart before remembering to take a picture, don’t they look lovely? They remind me of perfect Thanksgiving rolls and they tasted SO GOOD. (This is why I need to get back into running!)
Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. Will try to write at least once more this week but it’s a crazy one!
