Happy (belated) Birthday Shakespeare!

It’s no secret that I’m a Shakespeare devotee and this has been going around Facebook among my fellow Shakespearean practitioners so I thought I’d torture myself by trying to pick favorites even though it is kind of impossible to do so. Ask me again next week and many of these answers will change… Continue reading

Cooking #13: Zucchini Fritters

When I was planning to roast veggies last week my husband did the shopping and picked up all the vegetables I requested, but since I didn’t specify how many zucchini I wanted he thought I was making ratatouille and would need several when i really just needed one to cut up and roast! So  now a week has past and I was worried the other zucchini would go bad so today was the perfect day to try a new zucchini recipe for lunch. Continue reading

Cooking #12: Colorful Cooking

There was a time when my plates of food looked tragically monochromatic. Then I realized that my body was getting pretty sick when I ate most meat (hence my journey to pescetarianism) and suddenly I had to start reproaching vegetables and trying new foods. By far one of my favorite discoveries I’ve made since jumping in on this brand new Continue reading

In Praise of Disposable Cameras…

The single life event that is documented more than any other seems to be one’s wedding. I am kind of in love with our wedding photographs. We have canvas prints of some favorites on our gallery wall, I made shutterfly albums that contain many gorgeous pictures, and on top of that I still printed out hundreds of professional shots even though I have NO IDEA what I’m going to do with them (I think at the time maybe I thought I’d want my entire house to be decorated with wedding pictures? I was clearly not looking ahead to the fact that I’d want pictures from our marriage/family too..) And because our photographer was SO AMAZING (and also happens to be one of my incredible and closest friends) and we wanted to display her work throughout the house, I had kind of forgotten about this other stash of wedding photos I had until I was cleaning out our office… Continue reading

Cleaning: Routines, Not Schedules

So, when I wrote my little intro about how this month’s focus was on cleaning… I mentioned some pretty lofty goals for this category. In fact, they were lofty enough that overachiever recovering perfectionist me even admitted they would take much longer than this month. To be completely honest, when I wrote that I don’t even think I knew exactly what I was looking for or the components of what I needed… Continue reading

Macbeth: Creating some creepy times

So today’s blog post is a bit of a cheat because it’s where I send you all over to look at the blog post on Class6’s blog about my history with the company and a bit about our production of Macbeth. Before I add the link I wanted to briefly add that it has been so good for me to jump in as an actor again on a full length production (Lunch Time Theater shows have been lovely and Miscast was a blast but those are so different than a full rehearsal process for a full length play!) This is not a traditional Macbeth and each person in the 7 person ensemble is integral in creating the world of the play within the conceptual world of the asylum. I hope anyone in the Phoenix area will decide to spend 90ish minutes with us and check it out but be aware it is Macbeth which means Shakespearean tragedy which means some dark themes and this production does not shy away from some disturbing moments.

Without further ado, here’s the link to check out aforementioned blog post:

PS: odds of another post before we open are slim… very VERY slim.

Chronicling: Project Life Travel Core Kit

Macbeth opens in ONE WEEK! So that means it is crunch time over here, but I wanted to share a little update on chronicling. I mentioned that I will be trying a variety of memory keeping strategies this year and one of them was the physical Project Life products. I decided the place I wanted to start was with my HONEYMOON trip to Italy!  Continue reading

Cooking #10 All the Avocado

Avocado is definitely in my top five list of vegetarian’s best friend in the kitchen but it is pretty amazing no matter what your dietary needs are. It binds things, it’s delicious, it’s basically a superfood, and because I live so close to California it is in abundance and affordable at this time of year (which may surprise those of you who see the continually rising guacamole price at Chipotle.) In fact, when talking about how crazy it is that my toddler has yet to experience so many wonderful things in life like falling in love, I once had a friend respond “and he’s had so few avocados so far” so yeah, it’s THAT GOOD. So here are two super simple super fast recipes featuring this culinary superstar. Continue reading
