I didn’t write much last week because it was a very hard one. I have been battling some anxiety anyway, and last week I found out a friend from college died unexpectedly. Continue reading

The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful of Breastfeeding…
I have to be honest with you, I started writing this post a LONG time ago. I almost posted several times but each time I got a bit self conscious and sent it back to the drafts section. But since this first week of August is World Breastfeeding Week, AND last month I hit my pie in the sky, didn’t think I could do it in my wildest dreams goal of six months breastfeeding, I thought it was finally the right time to publish these thoughts on my nursing journey. On Doing Things Before You’re Ready
One of my favorite Amy Poehler quotes is, “Great people do things before they’re ready.” OK, so that’s the short version that shows up now in pull quotes and motivational posters, the whole quote is actually this: Continue reading
A Goal is a Dream…
I’m sure many of you have heard the saying “A goal is a dream with a timeline” or “A goal is a dream with a plan” and since it’s the new year and I promised I’d share a little bit more about my goals and dreams, now seemed like a good time to write this post. Continue reading
Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017…
I can’t believe the year is coming to a close… where did November go?! Continue reading
C is for Cultivate
WOW. We are somehow down to only two months in 2016. I am looking forward to cooler weather, upcoming holidays, and re-centering. This month I want to start focusing on cultivating the habits and values I hope to bring into 2017 and our growing family. I started cultivating some great routines last spring and then got majorly sidetracked after being so sick for so long and I am looking forward to trying to get back on top of them, while still knowing that I am going to be tired as I head into my third trimester and then probably even more tired the beginning of next year (though hopefully feeling better!!) Continue reading
The Courage to Share
While I have always loved crafting as a relaxing activity, a means of keeping my hands busy and getting into my body and out of living completely in my head, it has recently become something more than that. Continue reading
C is for Community…
I wrote recently about my love for fall and my gratitude that a rough summer was coming to a close. I had some idea of how isolating being so sick this summer made me, but now that I get a few days each week where I feel human again and can make it out of the house or actually cross stuff of my to-do list, it is throwing into sharp contrast how lonely I really was. Continue reading
C is for Change- my love for FALL
Today is the first day of fall! And here in Phoenix we got the unexpected treat of weather below 90 degrees and even a little bit of rain! It is still pretty warm, but it feels like a cozy day and I indulged in some hot caramel apple cider and am not hating the idea of going outside! Continue reading
Not That Kind of Mom
I am far from the first person to point out that parents- but especially moms- are under a lot of pressure to have it all, do it all, and be it all. The superwoman complex is abundant and it is so easy for it to find its way under the skin of perfectionists and recovering perfectionists, but no one is immune! Continue reading
