One of my favorite things about fall is fall produce and the return of one of my favorite CSA programs (they shut down for the summer here in AZ)- we got a TON of squash varieties last weekend so we’ve been brainstorming how to use all of this zucchini, grey squash, and yellow squash. Here’s a small sampling of the recipes we’ve been trying: Continue reading

C is for Cultivate
WOW. We are somehow down to only two months in 2016. I am looking forward to cooler weather, upcoming holidays, and re-centering. This month I want to start focusing on cultivating the habits and values I hope to bring into 2017 and our growing family. I started cultivating some great routines last spring and then got majorly sidetracked after being so sick for so long and I am looking forward to trying to get back on top of them, while still knowing that I am going to be tired as I head into my third trimester and then probably even more tired the beginning of next year (though hopefully feeling better!!) Continue reading
Festive Halloween Stuffed Bell Peppers
So since becoming a single car family I spend a lot more time at home with my son instead of out at the children’s museum or zoo or even the library (though we are still frequent visitors to our local branch!), So I’ve made a conscious effort to keep things interesting for him on days that I have energy/am not feeling pretty sick. Continue reading
Cooking: FALL CURRY
We are still having many 90+ degree days here in Phoenix, but on cloudy days we get nice 80 degree weather and no matter what it is still a nice respite from the 105+ weather this summer. Plus, we are getting nice fall vegetables in our CSA boxes so when we were given some of the main ingredients for fall curry I knew that would land on our menu this week. Continue reading
Pumpkin Butter!
I know, I know, it’s the season of everything pumpkin flavored and even though it isn’t even October yet you might already be sick of it… but this is SO delicious and SO easy to make!

C is for Change- my love for FALL
Today is the first day of fall! And here in Phoenix we got the unexpected treat of weather below 90 degrees and even a little bit of rain! It is still pretty warm, but it feels like a cozy day and I indulged in some hot caramel apple cider and am not hating the idea of going outside! Continue reading
Baking #38: Bread Bowls!
It’s finally feeling like fall here in Phoenix. So it is finally time for soup weather! My husband has a theory that everything tastes better if it comes in it’s own edible container- ice cream and waffle cones/bowls, the Cozy Cones of deliciousness they sell at Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure, and most especially soup in a bread bowl. Continue reading
November: Back to Basics
It has been a marathon six months for my family. As I head into tech for my final show of the year I am simultaneously amazed at how much love and enthusiasm I still have for this wonderful project and at how much I am looking forward to cutting back my time away from home and get back to basics- like unpacking! Continue reading
Baking #36: Pumpkin Muffins
Let me tell you… I have been a hot mess recently. I have been focusing most of my energy on keeping my fearless toddler alive and on rocking it out in rehearsals so the other stuff has kind of been… yeah, I said it most succinctly the first time, a hot mess. Continue reading
Baking #35: Apple Cider Donuts
It’s still 100 degrees here, but at least fall has deliciously established itself in my kitchen. Continue reading
