As we head into the holiday season, I’m thinking a lot about how, like everything else in 2020, the Holidays are going to look oh so different this year. Continue reading

Goodness in the Kitchen: Comfort Food
It’s an amazing time of year to be in the kitchen. Not only is it finally pleasant to turn on an oven or stove here in Phoenix (I don’t want to talk about how many days in the triple digits we have this year but suffice it to say that we broke records), but the seasonal flavors from October through December are varied and full of favorites (pumpkin! apple! gingerbread! peppermint!). I find so many of these flavors comforting and imbued with tradition, but today I want to talk about some of my favorite comfort foods that are there for my family year round. Warning: lots of carbs ahead… Continue reading
October Wrap Up and November Goals
Well… another month down and only 2 to go in this insane year. Let’s all start praying now that 2021 will not try to give 2020 a run for its money… In the meantime, let’s recap my October Powersheets and look at my November tending list! Continue reading
Family Halloween Costumes
I have to admit… for a long time I kind of hated Halloween. I don’t like being scared. I was acting a ton so I was basically playing dress up for a living and with really nice costumes that I would not be able to make or afford for a one night party. It just was not that fun for me. Then I had kids. Continue reading
Genuine Thoughts: Rapid Fire Questions
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, one of my favorite podcasts right now is Brene Brown’s Unlocking Us. Whenever she has a guest on her podcast, she ends her interview with ten “rapid fire” questions and since I’m not going to be on her podcast anytime soon (lol) I thought I’d respond to them on here because I find them fascinating and lovely. Continue reading
Is it a New Year Yet?
Oh my goodness… I know I’m not the only one feeling like 2020 is this strange time warp of going so slow and yet being surprised by what day it is because in so many ways the ways we mark time have been interrupted or made unrecognizable. Continue reading
GOOD listening: A Week’s Worth of Podcast Recommendations
There are an ASTOUNDING number of podcasts out there. I recently had to go through my phone and resign myself to deleting a bunch in my queue that I know I will just never actually listen to… but in clearing out so many podcasts that aren’t serving me in this season, it gave me a chance to see which podcasts I truly love and will continue to listen to regularly. So I decided to share a few of my favorites with you today.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
It is time to start revealing the themes of the blog this year. I can’t believe this is going to be my SEVENTH year blogging (my first “alphabet year” of A I wasn’t writing about it) so we are on the letter H.
My first H is my “word of the year” even though it is technically a phrase… it is a little bit of Italian from Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and the translation of it… Continue reading
Welcome Fall: October Goals!
Hello readers… even though part of me wishes we could just skip to 2021, I am grateful that we are about to enter one of my favorite months and favorite seasons. Last month it really helped to slow down and focus on de-stressing and trying to turn my critically low sleep levels around. I found that my availability and space gave me the grace to battle stress and other mental health issues and opened me up to some new ideas and opportunities. Here’s a quick recap and a look at my tending list for October… Continue reading
Olaf and my Mental health
I have young kids in my house- specifically a three year old girl in my house- which means that, like many of her peers, she is constantly requesting the Frozen and Frozen 2 soundtracks be played on repeat. After years with the original movie’s music blasting through our house, I think I’ve become immune to the original soundtrack, but I’ve been surprised to find recently that Frozen 2 songs have become a pretty good barometer about my own mental health during this pandemic… (also… spoiler alerts for frozen 2 ahead… and if you haven’t seen the movie and don’t care… this may not be a post that makes any sense to you anyway and you can totally skip this one!)
